Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using VeldCamp ("the Platform"), operated by VeldCamp (Pty) Ltd (Registration Number: To Be Registered), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to all terms, please do not use the Platform. VeldCamp is a marketplace connecting campers with campsite and activity operators across Southern Africa. We facilitate bookings but are not a party to any direct agreement between campers and operators.

2. Platform role

VeldCamp is an online marketplace that connects two user groups: Campers (individuals browsing and booking campsites, glamping, and outdoor activities) and Operators (individuals or businesses listing properties and experiences for rent). VeldCamp acts solely as an intermediary. We do not own, manage, or control any listed property or activity. All bookings constitute a direct contractual agreement between the camper and the operator.

3. User accounts

You must create an account to book or list on VeldCamp. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate, current, and complete information. Accounts registered with automated or bot methods are prohibited. VeldCamp reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts at its discretion.

4. Bookings and payments

When a camper books a listing, they enter a direct agreement with the operator. VeldCamp processes payments on behalf of operators using Yoco as our payment processor. Full payment is collected at the time of booking. Operators are paid within 48–72 hours after checkout, minus applicable commission.

VeldCamp uses a guest fee + host commission model. A guest fee of 7% is added to the booking total for stays, and 5% for activities. Host commission of 12% (stays) or 8% (activities) is deducted from the operator payout. Total platform take is 19% for stays and 13% for activities.

Cancellation policies are set by each operator and clearly displayed on each listing. Refunds are processed according to the operator's chosen policy. VeldCamp may deduct its commission before processing any refund. See our Cancellation Policy for the full tiers and refund rules.

5. Operator obligations

Operators listing on VeldCamp agree to:

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date availability calendars
• Honour all confirmed bookings without cancellation unless in cases of force majeure
• Provide a safe, clean, and accurately described environment
• Comply with all applicable South African laws, including municipal by-laws, environmental regulations, and tourism legislation
• Carry appropriate public liability insurance
• Respond to camper messages within 24 hours
• Not discriminate against any guest on the basis of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability

VeldCamp reserves the right to remove listings, withhold payouts, or suspend accounts for violations of these obligations.

6. Camper obligations

Campers using VeldCamp agree to:

• Provide accurate guest counts and booking information
• Respect all property rules, quiet hours, and environmental guidelines
• Leave the site in a reasonable condition
• Not engage in fraudulent activity, including booking with no intention of staying
• Not use the platform for any unlawful purpose
• Exercise standard outdoor precautions — camping and outdoor activities carry inherent risks

7. Reviews and content

Reviews must be honest, fair, and based on a genuine experience. VeldCamp reserves the right to remove reviews that are fraudulent, malicious, or violate our content guidelines. Operators may publish one public reply per review. All content posted on the Platform remains the intellectual property of its author, with a license granted to VeldCamp to display it on the Platform.

8. Limitation of liability

VeldCamp (Pty) Ltd is not liable for:

• Disputes, injuries, or damages arising between campers and operators
• Injuries sustained during camping stays or outdoor activities
• Property damage or loss of personal belongings
• Service interruptions, downtime, or data loss
• Acts of nature, wildlife encounters, or environmental conditions

Our Platform facilitates connections but does not control operator properties, conduct, or compliance with laws. Total liability shall not exceed the total fees paid by the claimant to VeldCamp in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Privacy and data protection

VeldCamp complies with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). We collect, process, and store personal data as described in our Privacy Policy. By using the Platform, you consent to our data practices. We never sell personal data to third parties.

10. Termination

Either party may terminate their account at any time by contacting support@veldcamp.com. VeldCamp may suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms, fraudulent activity, or behaviour that harms the platform community. Upon termination, confirmed bookings remain valid, and operators will be paid for completed stays. No refunds will be given for termination due to policy violations.

11. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising from these terms or the use of the Platform shall be resolved through arbitration in Pretoria, Gauteng, before resorting to court proceedings. Nothing in this clause prevents either party from seeking urgent equitable relief from a competent court.

12. Changes to terms

VeldCamp reserves the right to update these terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
