Host Agreement

Last updated: June 2026

1. Introduction

This Host Agreement ("Agreement") is between you ("Host", "Operator", or "you") and VeldCamp (Pty) Ltd ("VeldCamp", "we", or "us"). By listing a property, campsite, glamping setup, or activity on the VeldCamp Platform, you agree to be bound by this Agreement along with our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

2. Listing requirements

Every listing submitted to VeldCamp must meet the following standards:

  • Accuracy: All descriptions, photos, amenity lists, and pricing must accurately represent the property or experience being offered
  • Land rights: You must have legal authority to host guests on the listed property — whether through ownership, leasehold, landowner permission, or concession
  • Safety: The property must be safe for guests. Hazards must be clearly disclosed and marked
  • Water and sanitation: Access to clean drinking water and basic sanitation facilities must be provided or clearly disclosed if absent
  • Insurance: You are encouraged to carry public liability insurance appropriate for short-stay tourism accommodation

3. Commission and fees

VeldCamp charges commission on all confirmed bookings processed through the Platform. Commission is calculated on the total booking value (excluding any applicable Tourism Levy or VAT). VeldCamp uses a guest fee + host commission model:

  • Stays (camping, glamping, private land, lodges): Guest fee 7% + host commission 12% (19% total)
  • Activities and experiences: Guest fee 5% + host commission 8% (13% total)

The guest fee is added to the booking total and paid by the guest. Host commission is deducted from the operator payout. There are no fees to list — you only pay commission on confirmed bookings.

4. Payouts

Payouts are processed within 48–72 hours after the guest's scheduled checkout date, subject to:

  • No unresolved disputes or complaints from the guest
  • Verification of the booking and payment
  • Completion of required KYC (Know Your Customer) documentation

Payouts are made via EFT to the bank account provided during onboarding. It is your responsibility to ensure your bank details are accurate. VeldCamp is not liable for funds sent to incorrectly supplied account details.

5. Booking management

  • Availability: You must keep your availability calendar up to date. Double-bookings or cancellations due to outdated calendars will be considered a violation
  • Confirmation: Bookings are automatically confirmed when the guest completes payment. You may not cancel a confirmed booking except in cases of force majeure
  • Cancellation policy: You choose your own cancellation policy from the options provided on the Platform. The chosen policy must be honoured
  • Communication: You must respond to guest messages within 24 hours

6. Host conduct

As a Host on VeldCamp, you agree to:

  • Welcome all guests without discrimination on the basis of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or nationality
  • Provide the exact experience described in your listing
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment
  • Resolve guest issues promptly and in good faith
  • Not solicit guests to book outside the VeldCamp Platform to avoid commission
  • Not create fake bookings or reviews

7. Verification and listing quality

All new hosts are subject to a verification process before their first listing goes live. VeldCamp's regional team may conduct an in-person or virtual site assessment to verify land rights, safety, and accuracy of the listing. We reserve the right to:

  • Request additional documentation or photographs
  • Reject listings that do not meet our quality standards
  • Remove listings that receive repeated negative reviews or safety complaints
  • Feature or promote listings at our discretion

8. Disputes and liability

  • Disputes between hosts and guests should first be resolved directly. VeldCamp may mediate if requested
  • Hosts are liable for providing a safe environment. VeldCamp is not liable for injuries, damages, or losses occurring on the property
  • VeldCamp reserves the right to withhold payouts during dispute resolution
  • Repeated disputes or verified complaints may result in listing removal or account suspension

9. Termination

Either party may terminate this Agreement at any time with 7 days' written notice. VeldCamp may terminate immediately for:

  • Fraudulent activity or misrepresentation
  • Repeated policy violations
  • Safety violations that endanger guests
  • Illegal activities on the listed property

Upon termination, confirmed bookings will be honoured, and applicable payouts will be processed for completed stays.

10. Changes to this agreement

VeldCamp may update this Host Agreement with 30 days' notice. Material changes will be communicated via email. Continued listing on the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes shall be resolved through arbitration in Pretoria, Gauteng.
